Angola, IN

We finished our stay in Fredericksburg, VA on Monday.  After overnight stops in Bedford, PA and Lake Milton, OH, we arrived at Circle B Campground near Angola, IN this afternoon.  It's cool & windy here as a strong cold front passed a couple of hours before we got here - the same cold front providing some exciting weather in the Ohio River Valley.  We get to look forward to three days of rain as we await our turn for trailer service beginning Monday.  We've also got appointments to have major service to our generator plus the trailer's suspension upgrade to allow us to tow the trailer level.  In case you haven't guessed, we'll moving around the Elkhart area to get this all done.

Back to our travels, we took our standard route that we have normally taken when traveling this direction in early spring.  However, unique to this week's trip is that both Donna and I are sick with head and chest colds.  She caught it first, and then I got it.  Today we're running about 70-80% and slowly improving.  Otherwise, an uneventful trip up the interstates and turnpikes for us - just the way we like it.

As noted earlier, we're expecting rain all weekend, but people south of us are looking at a lot of rain and possible severe storms.  If you're part of that group, take special care this weekend. Thanks for dropping by! David

Fredericksburg, VA

We got here Monday.  Nice day for traveling.  Donna drove the whole way.  Took about five & a half hours including a couple of stops including lunch.  Truck got about 10.5 mpg.  Since arriving we've gotten a rental car, saw the dentist, visited Frank & Beth, and I got a new pair of shoes.  I think Donna goes full force visiting tomorrow.

After a cool weekend in High Point, it's been a warm week here in the Fredericksburg area.  Highs in the 80s.  Pollen so thick in the air that it looks like fog.  We left High Point with the leaves coming out.  We got to Fredericksburg and couldn't see many new leaves.  Today, I could see the leaves beginning to come out.  The pollen was coming off the trees as if the wind was blowing dust off of 'em.  We had a slight chance of rain, but it didn't happen.  I was kinda hoping it would rain just to get more pollen off the trees.

The KOA staff has done a good job cleaning up the KOA.  They've realigned one pull-thru site, moved and replanted some shrubbery, added new shrubbery, removed some trees, trimmed some trees, got the leaves cleaned up, and updated a couple of sites with brick patios.  Verizon wireless signal is stronger as calls are no problem.  Data still poor, though.  Donna's getting Windows updates, so it works for one of us!

So that's it for this week.  Have a great Easter!  Until next week, David

High Point, NC

Back in High Point, NC for the weekend.  We survived Georgia's severe storms of April 3rd and 5th, before moving on to High Point, yesterday.  Normally that's a two day trip for us, but we decided to push it and do the trip in one day.  Took us about six and a half hours including lunch.  Donna drove all the way.  We made it on one tank of diesel using almost 33 gallons of the the truck's 48 gallon capacity.  We literally followed the cold front as it moved east, yesterday, so the tailwind obviously helped with the fuel mileage.

So far it's been cold and windy.  We been visiting since we got here.  There's only about a dozen RVs in the park.  I met most of them yesterday as I cleaned the bugs off the truck.  Apparently, I was out in prime dog-walking time. What should have been a 15 minute job turned into an hour plus.  It was good, though.  Met people from all over.  Most were like us - here visiting friends & family.

Today the ladies spent the day out visiting, eating and shopping.  I filled the truck's fuel tank, bought ice cream and some groceries at the Triad Farmer's Market, got a sewer hose extension from Camping World, and finished the grocery list Donna made for me.  We had dinner with another Donna here at the trailer this evening.  So we've stayed busy since we've arrived.  I think it all continues tomorrow with dinner out and an Easter show.

Plans are to move to Fredericksburg, VA Monday.  Weather forecasters say it'll be warmer.  Next post from there.  Everyone have a great weekend.  Thanks for dropping by! David
