Bi-Weekly Update

Quick update to let everyone know we're fine.  Been cool and little wetter than normal, but beats the freeze we had at this time two years ago.  Cool, pretty day today, though, with the family behind us starting a campfire first thing this morning.  We've gotten out a little - generally eating out.  We met Steve & Susan Burford in Mobile for dinner at Ed's Seafood Shed last weekend.  Hope to visit with them again next week.  We've also gone to the outlet stores where I "speared" a couple of new flannel shirts.  Flannel shirts somewhat rare in this part of the country.

Donna continues to ride with the Folks-on-Spokes and swim on days she's not riding with the group.   I walk and ride the bike when I'm bored with walking.  You get to pet more dogs when you're walking, though.

Our truck's water (rain) leak that we began to notice last April is getting worse.  Had a couple of places check it out.  The last one ran water over it for several hours with no success. Bought a bicycle brake cable to try to clean the sunroof drains and see if that's it (checking sunroof drains recommended by people on one of the Ford forums).  I'm not sure I know what I'm doing.  But if I'm doing it right, the driver's side drain is clogged.  Not sure I can clear it if it is.  So I may have to see if someone can do a better job than I can with the brake cable.   I'll try again later today.

So that's our couple of weeks.  Oh, for future planning for our Virginia friends, we've made reservations for May 11th - June 1st in Fredericksburg and the first weekend in June at Big Meadows, Shenandoah Natl Park.  For now, we plan to travel to Florida when we leave Gulf Shores.

As always, that's just plans!.  Later, David

Bay St Louis, MS

We've had a great couple of weeks to start the new year.  We're pretty much into the routine of Donna riding her bike with the Folks-on-Spokes and me walking.  We've gotten through the two weeks of almost continuous rain, and now we're into the normal temps being interrupted by lows below freezing every now & then.  Now we're into trying to get odd and end maintenance items done or repaired before we move on in March.

On Monday we drove over to Bill & Debra's for a visit.  Once again they took us down memory lane.  (We lived in Long Beach, MS from 1980-83.)   What we remember is getting less and less each year plus what we do remember was blown away during Hurricane Katrina. So it's all new to us.

It was good to see Bill & Debra and hear all their plans plus play with the dogs.  On this visit they took us over to Bay St Louis, MS for lunch.  Lunch was great.  I don't remember all that much of the Pass Christian-Bay St Louis area.  What little I do remember of it wasn't all that impressive.  They've done a nice job with the rebuild.  The new bridge is worth a drive down just to see.

So what do you do with a dead tree?  Carve it, of course!  (Top picture).  People have done this to the dead trees all along the Highway 90 in Mississippi.  Most of them are worth a trip just to see them.  The next picture is of the Bay St Louis beach area.  Never drove thought this part when we lived down here.  They've done a nice job of rebuilding the whole area which they've done in a true beach mode.  I'd post a picture of the bridge, but the ones I took weren't all that great.

So that's it from us.  Everyone take care.  Later, David
