Apple Valley (St Paul), MN 2017

One of the many lakes at Lebanon Hills Regional Park

Apparently, tiger lilies thrive here
After a couple of more bicycle rides along the Munger trail around Carlton, MN, we moved (Monday) down to the twin cities area.  We were told there were some nice bicycle trails to ride, so we thought we'd check them out.  We staying in the campground at Lebanon Hills Regional Park for the week.

So far we've ridden along the Schaar's Bluff/Silver Park near Hastings and Mississippi Blvd in St Paul.  Pictures here are of Lebanon Regional Park and the ride in the Hastings area.  Plans are to ride some in Cannon Falls area before we leave Monday.

Lebanon Hills Regional Park is a nice, big rig friendly park.  Just make your reservations early or don't plan on staying over a weekend during the summer.  We made our reservations in March, so we get to stay over a weekend.  You're in the suburban Minneapolis/St Paul area when you stay here, but wouldn't know it except for the occasional airliner you see flying over.  The park came highly rated on RVParkReviews.com - that's how we found & picked it.  Verizon wireless is a little poor with data being particularly slow.

The twin cities area is a bicycle friendly & outdoor activity area, but we're not finding a lot of independent, stand-alone bicycle trails.  The ones we have found are excellent.  They're not rail trails or least don't seem to be.  Expect some steep inclines & descents should you choose to ride in this area.  And like most metropolitan areas, there's lots to do here.  And as an oh-by-the-way, Lebanon Hills has dirt bicycle trails.

In other news, our "smart" phone continues to have issues determining where we are.  Google Maps & Google Earth don't have a problem, but the weather apps are struggling.  When set to "current location", our weather apps have given us weather for Newberry, MI (Upper Peninsula of Michigan) or Box Elder, SD (near the Black Hills area of South Dakota).  So much for "smart"...

Plans are to move near the Tomah, WI area next week.  This keeps us within reasonable commuting distance of Lacrosse, WI and bicycle trails along the Mississippi River.  At least that's what I think.  RV parks near Lacrosse weren't all that appealing, and Tomah is the next area traveling east with decent RV parks.  Keeping my fingers crossed on this one!

So that's it for us this week.  Thanks for checking in on us!  Until next week, David
