Arrived at Santa Fe, NM

Well, after stops at Abilene, Lubbock and Santa Rosa, we're finally at Santa Fe, NM.  It's been a hot dusty trip and most vehicles in the campground look just as dirty as ours.  Santa Fe is a little smoky from the Arizona wild fires, but the weather is a pleasant high 70s with winds around 15 mph.  We're looking forward to the lows in the 50s tonight.  I think the air conditioners are, too.

We're located at the Santa Fe Skies RV Park just south of Santa Fe.  It's on a high ridge (about 6,600 ft) and the campground overlooks the area.  After arriving and setting up, we made a trip into downtown to find the post office, a great lunch at La Choza, and a quick stroll through one of parks in town.  Donna has already mapped out some hiking trails.  And we've found that there's a Santa Fe chocolate trail!  It's also clear that Santa Fe downtown streets aren't built for a F450.  We're told there's an over-sized vehicle parking lot near the old town area.  Gotta find that!

We've had our first issue with the trailer while traveling.  The bedroom slide appears to have "jumped" a cog on one side and doesn't fully close at one corner.  We're about a mile from a dealer.  So we're staying here until they can get us in & the slide checked out.  After our issue with hydraulics in 2009 at West Yellowstone, we no longer care to just push through until we're stuck somewhere and the slide won't move.  We may have to postpone our planned train ride from Durango to Silverton, CO.  Just wait and see.

Later, David
