Arriving at St Ignace, Michigan

Mackinac Island

Straits of Mackinac (I-75) Bridge
We arrived safe and sound early this afternoon at St Ignace, MI.  We left Traverse City shrouded in fog, but the fog and clouds broke about 10-15 miles south of the Mackinac Bridge.  We chose not to travel the scenic US 31 route north because of the fog. Instead, we traveled west along M-72, US 131, and M-32 to I-75 for the trip north. This midland route is scenic it its own way, but we were looking forward to traveling some more of the coastline of Lake Michigan.

We're parked in the St Ignace KOA.  Except for the upgrades to 50 amp service, I'll bet this KOA hasn't changed much in 30+ years.  It may be old, but it's clean, well kept and everything seems to be working.  The owner likes antiques.  They drove the tractor into the fenced area just after we got here.  Surprising to me, there's only three families in the 115+ campsite campground tonight!

Today was an all business day.  For whatever reason, our garden sprayer nozzle (brass) died.  So off we went to get a new garden sprayer plus pick up mail.  These little garden sprayers are a critical item for us (OK, me).  It's the only way to get wash fluid high enough on the front of the trailer to get the dead bugs off!

We'll start sightseeing tomorrow.  While I didn't think the plans included a trip to Mackinac Island, the weather for Sunday is suppose to be pretty good, so we'll take a ride over there and visit for a few hours.  We're here through Monday, so there's no telling what trouble we'll get into.

More later, David
